Eimuntas Nekrošius ( lit. Eimuntas Nekrošius ; November 21, 1952 - November 20, 2018 , Vilnius ) - Soviet and Lithuanian theater director ; Laureate of the State Prize of the Lithuanian SSR ( 1983 ), State Prize of the USSR ( 1987 ), Prize of the Baltic Assembly ( 1994 ), Lithuanian National Prize for Culture and Art ( 1997 ), Lithuanian National Prize for Progress ( 2008 ) [1] , State Prize of the Russian Federation ( 2000 ).

Biography

Born and raised in a peasant family. In 1970, at the age of eighteen, he entered the Lithuanian State Conservatory (class of D. Tamulyavichute and V. Chibiras), a year later he entered GITIS in the directing department of A. A. Goncharov .

After graduation, he worked in the Kaunas Drama Theater (1979-1980), after which he returned to the Vilnius Youth Theater (1978-1992). In 1998, he created his own theater “ Myano Fortas ” (“Fort of Arts”). The permanent artists of Nyakroshyus' performances were his wife Nadezhda Gultyaeva and son Marius Nyakroshyus.

He died on November 20, 2018, the day before his sixty-sixth birthday. [2] [3] .
