Story
Like other Telltale Games games, the game consists of several episodes that were released at monthly intervals during the second half of 2009.
| No. | Title | Producer | Screenwriter | release date |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| one | “Launch of the Roaring Narwhal” "Launch of the Screaming Narwhal" | Michael Stemml | Marc Darin, Brendan Ferguson, Chuck Jordan, Jake Rodkin and Michael Stammle | July 7, 2009 (Windows) [1] |
| Fighting his eternal enemy, the pirate LeChuck, Guybrush Threepwood falls on the island of Flotsam, from which no one can get out due to a bizarre rose of winds. The defeated LeChuck turns into a normal person, but at the same time, part of the evil essence of the former zombie pirate infects Guybrush's hand. The main character will have to defeat the scientist Marquis de Sinje, fix the winds on the island and go in search of the Big Sponge, which will help cope with smallpox, spread through Tripwood through all the islands. | ||||
| 2 | The Siege of the Fishing Reef "The Siege of Spinner Cay" | Mark Darin | Will Armstrong, Mark Darin, Brendan Ferguson, Chuck Jordan, Jake Rodkin and Michael Stammle | August 20, 2009 (Windows) [2] |
| Tripwood's ship is boarded by pirate hunter Morgan LeFlay, hired by the Marquis de Signe. Guybrush is able to get rid of her, but before that she manages to chop off his infected arm. Tripwood is forced to land on the Fisherman's Reef, inhabited by mermaids, where he finds Elaine Marley and the “humanized” LeChuck, trying to find artifacts to search for the Big Sponge. Having obtained everything you need and breaking through the sea blockade, Guybrush goes to the giant manatees, which can lead to the Big Sponge. LeFey again catches up with him, and during the fight, the ship swallows a giant manatee with them. | ||||
| 3 | The Lair of the Leviathan "Lair of the Leviathan" | Sean Vanaman | Will Armstrong, Mark Darin, Brendan Ferguson, Dave Grossman, Joe Pinney, Jake Rodkin, Michael Stammle and Sean Vanaman | September 29, 2009 (Windows) [3] |
| Inside the manatee, Guybrush meets with a Spaniard named Coronado de Cava, who is still looking for Sponge. Guybrush in the womb of the manatee is rubbed into confidence in the former crew members of de Cava (who considers them long dead), and also finds an old friend - a talking skull named Murray. Having received from the crew an ear snail necessary for manatees to navigate in water, Guybrush directs the manatee to the mating area of the manatees, where a huge female manatee guards the Sponge. Triplewood helps its manatee seduce a female and gets a Big Sponge (which is actually not that big). With the help of a sponge, Guybrush is cured of smallpox, but LeFey again attacks him, which is passed to the Marquis. | ||||
| four | “The trial and execution of Guybrush Threepwood” "The Trial and Execution of Guybrush Threepwood" | Michael Stemml | Will Armstrong, Mark Darin, Brendan Ferguson, Dave Grossman, Joe Pinney, Jake Rodkin, Michael Stammle and Sean Vanaman | October 30, 2009 (Windows) [4] |
| Morgan reluctantly delivers Guybrush de Sinju, but the townspeople forcibly give Guybrush a damned subpoena, where he is accused of several civil violations. Despite the fact that the prosecutor is his old friend Stan, Guybrush succeeds in convincing the judge of his innocence. But then he is accused of criminal distribution of Smallpox on the islands, for which he faces the gallows. Guybrush rescues LeChuck, who publicly reveals that the voodoo lady is guilty of all the misfortunes of Guybrush, Elaine and LeChuck. Guybrush is released, and LeChaka and the voodoo lady are imprisoned. The voodoo lady explains that the Big Sponge, but only the really big one, can rid the inhabitants of the islands of the disease. To activate the sponge, she needs to arrange a “feast of feelings”. Looking for the necessary items for a feast, Guybrush finds the body of the murdered LeFey. Gaybarsh falls into the trap of the Marquis de Sinj, who is trying with smallpox to obtain the elixir of immortality. Guybrush defeats him and throws a sponge into the marquise's car, which is why it grows to enormous size and absorbs all smallpox from the islands. LeChuck suddenly appears and pierces Guybrush with his sword - all this time he was pretending to be. While Elaine cries over her dying husband, LeChuck absorbs the whole Smallpox from Sponge into himself, again turning into undead. | ||||
| 5 | "The phenomenon of the pirate god" "Rise of the Pirate God" | Mark Darin | Mark Darin, Dave Grossman, Jake Rodkin, Michael Stammle and Sean Vanaman | December 8, 2009 (Windows) [5] |
| Guybrush finds himself in the afterlife and travels by boat to the Crossroads, where the worlds of the living and the dead cross. Having learned from one of the locals that LeChuck had once managed to escape from there with the help of a spell, Guybrush starts to search for the spell and its components. Along the way, he meets with Morgan, who was depressed due to past events. When Guybrush breaks the barrier between the worlds, LeChuck uses the Big Sponge to absorb a huge amount of energy from the other world and become a Pirate demon god. Guybrush returns to the living world to fight LeChuck, but he is too weak to measure his strength with the embittered demonobog who chases the hero on the ship, severely beating him. When LeChuck rushes after him, Guybrush sacrifices his last Thread of life to close the portal. LeChuck is stuck between worlds, allowing the demon goddess Elaine and the ghost Morgan to pierce the villain with swords at the same time, destroying his body and spirit. Having woken up alone on the Crossroads, at first Guybrush believes that he is forever stuck in the kingdom of the dead, but then he realizes that he still has one more item suitable for LeChuck's spell - the Elaine engagement ring. He uses it to return to his wife in a restored body. After the credits, Morgan delivers the can with the essence of LeChuck Voodoo Lady, revealing a desire to return to the world of the living. | ||||
Interesting Facts
- Guybrush is voiced by actor Dominic Armato , who voiced it in the previous parts.
- In the jungles of the island of Flotsam, Guybrush can find itself on the " well of desires ." If you click on him, then Guybrush will want to become the most powerful pirate in the world, after which he temporarily turns into LeChak. If in the fourth part, double-click on the well, then Guybrush will ask to show the most beautiful pirate and for a while will turn into Elaine.
- During the game, Guybrush constantly mentions the events that happened to him in the previous parts, including the burial alive in The Curse of Monkey Island , which will be understandable only to those who played those games.
- When Guybrush learns how to communicate with the Leviathans, he is relieved that he did not have to swallow anything. This is a reference to the "Endless Journey" , where April had to make a slime potion to communicate with the maerums.
- Stan's jacket, like in previous games, has a constantly changing color, as if a fixed grid was imposed on it (relative to the screen). Unlike the first parts, where it was easy to implement, here the creators had to work hard to create a similar effect in a 3D game.
- LeChuck in the first series voiced by Adam Harrington. “Humanized” LeChuck in series 2-4 voiced by Kevin Blackton. At the end of the fourth part, Earl Boen , the actor who voiced LeChuck in " The Curse of Monkey Island ", " Escape from Monkey Island " and " The Secret of Monkey Island ", returned to the role of Demonic LeChuck. In addition, Boen also re-voiced the dialogues from the first series for the DVD version of the game.
- In the final part of the game, LeChuck openly tries to physically destroy Guybrush. When asked by Guybrush why he does this with such cruelty, LeChuck replies that he had never tried to kill a hero before, committing a typical mistake by filmmakers.
- Apparently, the plot of the game occurs after the next adventure of Guybrush, that is, a nonexistent game. It is not known whether this gap will ever be filled.
Reviews
