Name Origin
The name arose from the settlement of money masters of the Sovereign Mint that existed here (engravers and minters of coins). In the XVIII century, the lane was called Pokrovsky after the Church of the Intercession (renamed due to the many such streets and lanes in the city). By the end of the century, the name Denezhnaya Street was strengthened, later Ermolov Lane, Pleshcheyev Lane (according to homeowners) and Pokrovsky Lane - according to the Church of the Intercession in Levshin (documented since 1673, dismantled in 1930). In 1933-1994 - Vesnin Street, in memory of the architect L. A. Vesnin (1880-1933), who lived in this lane [1] . A memorial plaque is installed on his house.
Description
Money Lane starts from Bolshoy Levshinsky as a continuation of Maly Levshinsky (in the 19th century the latter was part of Money Lane, which began directly from Prechistenka ) and runs north parallel to the Garden Ring . Glazovsky Lane crosses, Sivtsev Vrazhek adjoins to its right, then goes onto Arbat opposite Troilinsky Lane . House numbering starts from the side of Bolshoi Levshinsky Lane.
