History

The club was founded in 1976 and was called "Ephesus Pilsen", began to speak with the second division of the championship of Turkey. “Ephesus”, due to financial problems, acquired the club of the second division “Kadıköspor” ( tour. Kadıköyspor ) and took its place [1] . The first sponsor of the team was Ephesus Pilsen, a subsidiary of Anadolu Group. In 1978, the team did not lose a single match in the second division, became the champion of the second league and received a promotion in the class. From this moment, “Ephesus” is a regular participant in the first league of Turkey . In the first season (1978-79), “Ephesus” became the champion of Turkey and became one of the strongest teams in the country. In 1993 he reached the Finals of the Saporta Cup , where he lost to the Greek team “ Aris ”. In 1995-96, he became famous in the European arena after winning the Korac Cup , and also became the first Turkish team to win club basketball competitions in Europe. Subsequently, the club became an almost permanent participant in the Euroleague , reaching the Final Four in 2000 and 2001. Both times the team finished third [2] . In 2011, after banning the use of the names of tobacco and alcohol companies in sports, the club changed its name to Anadolu Ephesus [3] .

Ephesus is known for youth programs. Hedo Turkoglu , a member of the club, played in the NBA , and Mirsad Turkjan, one of the best in rebounds in the Euroleague, made his debut.
