Béla Fleck and the Flecktones is an American instrumental group of virtuoso musicians , playing mainly jazz , ethnic music and progressive bluegrass . The leader of the group is Bela Fleck , a jazz banjo player who began his career in the blue grass group "New Grass Revival". The group includes a two-time Grammy winner, virtuoso bassist Viktor Wooten . The group was formed in 1988 in the USA . The name of the collective is a remake of the name of the 60s rock band “ Dick Dale and the Del-Tones ”.
