Akadem (or Ekadem , Hekadem : dr. Greek Ἀκάδημος, Ἑκάδημος ) is an ancient Greek hero [1] , who indicated to the brothers Castor and Polydeuvka the place where their sister Elena , abducted by Theseus , was hidden. He told the Dioskuram that Elena was hidden in Aphidna [2] (a place in Attica).
The establishment of the festival of Prometheus with a run from the Academy's grove to Ceramics was described in the tragedy of Aeschylus “Prometheus the Fire-Bearer” [3] .
It was believed that the Academy was buried in a sacred olive grove six stages northwest of Athens , outside the gates of Erius, whom he planted and where his house was located. In this grove, Plato taught (from 387 BC), then his students, and their school was called the " Academy ". Sulla cut down the Academy's grove, besieging Athens [4] .
