In 2008, Mallia took 162 and 41 places among the richest people in the world and India, respectively, with a capital of 1.2 billion US dollars . Significant press coverage has his lavish parties, hotels, cars, sports teams and his yacht Indian Empress - one of the largest in the world. Vijay Mallya was born into a Konkani-speaking Brahmin family in the city of Bantval (near Mangalore ) in the state of Karnataka . Studied in Calcutta . He later started doing business in Dubai ( UAE ).
Mallya was twice married. His first wife is Samira. They have a son, Sidhartha Vijaya Mallu. Mallia later married Rekha. From his second wife, he has two daughters - Lean Mallyu and Tanya Mallyu and one son.

Vijay Mallya is the owner of the United Breweries Group company, which owns the Kingfisher beer brand [6] .
Aviation
In 2005, Mallia founded Kingfisher Airlines . The planes of this airline flew to 32 cities of the world. Kingfisher Airlines acquired a 26% stake in the Indian low-cost airline Air Deccan , which it then acquired in full and renamed Kingfisher Red . After the bankruptcy of the airline, the Indian National Agency for the Suppression of Economic Crimes (Enforcement Directorate), called Vijay Malju for questioning in connection with the case of money laundering through IDBI bank [7] . Malia himself at that time (March 2016) was outside of India.

Mallya entered politics in 2000 and replaced Subramanian Swami as president of the Janata Party (People’s Party). Despite active promotion through the media, his party did not win a single seat during the Karnataka state parliament elections.
Auctions Acquisition
Vijay Mallya several times won auctions at which the objects of cultural heritage of India were sold. In 2004, he purchased the sword of Sultan Misor Tipu for 175 thousand pounds at an auction in London . The sword was returned to the National Museum of India .
