Description
The Turia Peninsula is located in the southern part of the Kola Peninsula on the Kandalaksha coast of the White Sea . Length - up to 15 km. Width - up to 10 km. On the peninsula are capes Turiy and Nosok. In the northwestern part it is separated from the mainland by Pine Bay . Karzh Bay protrudes into the eastern coast of the peninsula. There are several small lakes on the peninsula, the largest of which are Letnegorskaya, Golyshevo and Kuzhozerki. On the isthmus is Lake Lower Vypsozero. Many small rivers and streams. The north of the peninsula is swampy [1] . The closest settlements to the peninsula are Umba and Kuzreka .
The relief of the peninsula is mostly hilly . The highest point is 172 m (Summer Mountain). Underwater and underwater stones are found in the sea near the peninsula. The depths of the sea near the peninsula are up to 238 m. On the western coast, 200 m from the coast, there is the island of Volostrov , separated from the Tury peninsula by the Volostrovskaya Salma Strait.
The peninsula is a botanical monument, there are many rare plant species. Due to the intrusion of ultralatal rocks located here, the flora and soil are diverse on the Tury Peninsula. The forest is mainly birch and pine. Endemic plants on the peninsula are considered to be arctic sunflower and Turymyss dandelion . Other species from the Red Book of Russia also grow: calypso bulbous , Rhodiola rosea , Peony Maryin root , sedge lead and cinnamon red cinnamon [2] .
Part of the peninsula is part of the Kandalaksha Reserve .
