In the culture of Armenia, water and, in particular, drinking fountains have an increased significance [1] . In Armenian they are called pulpulak [2] [3] ( Armenian Պուլպուլակ ), as well as tsaytakhbyur ( Armenian ցայտաղբյուր ) [4] .

The name pulpulak comes from the sound of the murmur of water - “pool-pool”, when it splashes out of the neck, and from the word “ak” ( Armenian арм կ ) - in Armenian, “source” [4] .

Most of the pulpulaks are established separately, however, there are pulpulaks connected to khachkars [4] .

In Yerevan, on the Republic Square, there is the pulpulak “7 springs” (as the Armenian folk wisdom says, “the people draw strength from seven sources”). The author of this pulpulak, built in 1965 , is Spartak Knedekhtsyan. The former “7 springs” drinking tips, made in the form of a fortress tower, were stolen in the 1990s , the new ones were made according to the design of jewelery designer Nur. In 2010, three of the seven fountains were destroyed by unknown persons [5] .
