The Clann Lir ensemble is a side project by the leaders of well-known Moscow folk groups: the singer Helavisi from The Mill , the bagpiper Vladimir Lazerson from Tintal , the singer Yuri Andreychuk from the Sid's Warrior , and the composer and keyboard player Konstantin Vyshinsky [1] .
Unlike the main groups of participants, Clann Lir performs not his own compositions in the style of folk music or folk rock , but folk Celtic songs in traditional processing. The repertoire of the group consists of songs in the languages of Celtic peoples (Irish, Scottish, Welsh) and secular Irish music of the XVIII century .
The name of the group is translated from the Irish language as “Children of Lira” or “Family of Lira” and refers to the old Irish legend about the children of Lira .
Content
History
The group was created in 2003 by experienced musicians of the Moscow “Celtic” scene. Natalya O'Shey, Vladimir Lazerson, Yuri Andreychuk and Konstantin Vyshinsky were included in the initial squad.
The group began a concert activity in the clubs of Moscow and St. Petersburg.
By the time the ensemble was created, the members of Clann Lir had achieved some success and fame as part of several folk-rock bands: The Mill, Tintal, Slua Si (Sid's Warrior). Thus, their side project Clann Lir is a supergroup [2] [3] .
The debut album of the ensemble, called Clann Lir , was released in 2005. The concert presentation of the album took place on March 20, 2005 in Moscow's Heather Club as part of the four-day Celts non-stop festival dedicated to St. Patrick's Day [4] .
In 2006, harpist Tatyana Strunina joined the band. The album Clann Lir was reissued in 2008 by Perekrestok Records.
