Ahtershtag
Achtershtag ( niderl. Achterstag ) - rigging of a standing rigging supporting in a diametrical plane from aft of a mast , chimneys, etc.
It is used for single-mast and half-mast types of sailing weapons with Bermuda sails ( yol and ketch ).
On modern yachts, the sterns are usually equipped with devices for adjusting the tension, in order to change the bend of the mast, which, accordingly, changes the profile of the sail. As adjusting devices, hoists , hydraulic turnbuckles , etc. are used.
