The 33rd session of the UNESCO World Heritage Committee was held in Seville , Spain from 22 to 30 June 2009, chaired by Maria Jesus San Segundo , Minister of Education and Science of Spain. 30 heritage sites were presented for consideration - 4 natural, 23 cultural and 3 mixed.
As a result of the session, the list was replenished with 13 new objects, 2 of them - natural and 11 - cultural. The following were expanded: Tubbatah Reef , Levoča Historical Monuments and Saltworks in Salen-les-Bains . Eliminated from the list - Dresden Elbe Valley . In addition, changes were made to the list of World Heritage Sites under threat of destruction. This list was replenished with four objects, one object was excluded from it.
As of June 28, 2009, the list contained 890 World Heritage Sites.
