NHL season 2009/2010

The 93rd (92nd game) season of the NHL started on October 1 with four matches between Boston and Washington , Montreal and Toronto , Vancouver and Calgary , San Jose and Colorado . And on October 2 and 3, Detroit Red Wings , St. Louis Blues , Florida Panthers and Chicago Blackhawks held four matches in Europe.

2009 NHL Draft

According to the results of the draft lottery, the New York Islanders got the first choice right. As a result, the "Islanders" were the first to choose John Tavares .

In total, 102 hockey players from Canada, 55 from the USA, 24 from Sweden, 10 from Finland, five from Slovakia, three from the Czech Republic, as well as one from Belarus, Denmark, Germany and the UK, were selected in the draft.

As for the Russian players, only 7 of them were selected. This is the lowest result in the entire history of participation of Russian hockey players in the NHL draft [2] . The highest number was selected Dmitry Kulikov Florida Panthers , in the first round under the 14th number.
