HAMMER (file system)

HAMMER - 64-bit file system built on B-trees . Designed by Matthew Dillon for the DragonFlyBSD operating system.

FS capabilities HAMMER [1] [2]

  • Save file system history (with customizable wiping of old data)
  • Large supported volume (up to 1 Exabyte )
  • Ability to work with pseudo-file systems and mirroring at the level of pseudo-file systems
  • Enhanced data integrity monitoring ( CRC metadata checking)
  • Minimize recovery time in case of incorrect unmounting of the file system (there is no need to run fsck )
  • FS is optimized for working with clusters and remote access to information.
