Story
The action takes place in the estate Islalaya in the early 1840s. Between 1 and 2, 2 and 3, 4 and 5 actions take place by day.
At the heart of the play is a love quadrilateral. Natalya Petrovna, the wife of a rich landowner Arkady Sergeyevich Islayev, falls in love with Alexei Nikolaevich Belyaev (21 years old), a student and teacher, Kolya Islalayev. Mikhail Alexandrovich Rakitin, a friend of the family, has long been in love with Natalya Petrovna. Verochka - a student of Natalia Petrovna, 17 years old, also falls in love with Koli's teacher. Belyaev and Rakitin as a result of leaving the estate ...
