The qualification of the 1996 World Hockey Championship in Group D is the IIHF IIHF ice hockey competition held from November 5 to 6, 1995 in Sydney ( Australia ) and from January 27 to 29, 1996 in Metula ( Israel ). The teams were divided into two zones - Oceania and the Mediterranean. The winners of their zones received the right to play in Group D of the 1996 World Cup .

Already after the tournament in the Mediterranean zone, the Greek national team was disqualified due to the participation in hockey players who were not declared to the tournament. The team was credited with a technical defeat in both matches with a score of 0: 5 [1] .
