1996 Group Hockey World Championship D

The 1996 Ice Hockey World Championship in Group D is an IIHF- sponsored ice hockey championship held in Kaunas and Elektrenai , Lithuania , from March 25 to 31, 1996 , as part of the 60th World Championship . The first place team won the right to play in group C of the 1997 World Cup .

Eight national teams took part in the championship - five from Europe , two from Asia , and one from Oceania . The national teams of Australia and Israel made their way through the qualification , the rest came from group C2 .
