Lectorium rosicrucianum

Symbol of Lectorium Rosicrucianum

Lectorium Rosicrucianum , or the International School of the Golden Rosicrucian , is a modern Gnostic theological school that was founded in the Netherlands in 1935. Its founders are the Leene brothers, who initially participated in the work of the Brotherhood of the Rosicrucians Max Handel , but later began independent work, taking the teachings of Handel as a basis, significantly reducing and distorting it. In particular, the new doctrine was built on the opposition of the “divine” and “earthly” worlds, the latter being seen as a place of “fall”, and the people living in it as “caricatures” of a celestial man. The founders canceled the study of astrology and, contrary to Handel’s instruction on the need for the free dissemination of wisdom, introduced membership fees. The practices that were recommended by Max Handel for spiritual development were declared "occult" and unnecessary.

Today, the School has students in 47 countries. Around the world, there are about 12,000 students of the School (in Russia - about 250) and about 3,000 members. In Russia, the School began its work in 1993.

Teaching and Objectives

The teachings of Lectorium Rosicrucianum are based on the concept of the existence of two natural orders. Firstly, there is an earthly natural order known to us, which includes both death and life. Everything in it is subject to the cyclical change of birth, prosperity, dying and new birth. Secondly, there is an initial divine order. The first area of existence is the perishable world of birth, flowering, wilting, the so-called "dialectics", according to the terminology adopted at the school; the second is the eternal world, "static", in the Bible - "Kingdom of Heaven." In the heart of a person in a sleeping state, only the last remnant of this divine world, called the “spiritual atom-spark” in the School, has been preserved. For many seekers, this spiritual principle manifests itself in the form of an indefinite feeling of longing, a kind of nostalgia for a long-lost initial immortal state, a state of unity with the Father, God.

One of the goals of the school is to help people realize the true reason for this feeling of longing and explain the need to return to the divine natural order in the process of rebirth from the Spirit (John 3: 8), which Jesus spoke to Nicodemus. This process of rebirth, or “transfiguration,” becomes possible as a result of our “daily dying," in the words of the apostle Paul (1 Cor. 15:31). What dies is the old nature, self-centered consciousness, and awakening is due to the divine nature, Christ within us. Lectorium Rosicrucianum not only talks about this process, but also helps and supports students in their efforts to realize it in their lives.

Apprenticeship

Transfigurist doctrine should not be considered only philosophically - it should be realized in life. This is precisely the main goal of apprenticeship at the Theological School. For those who do not feel ready for apprenticeship in the indicated sense, but nevertheless would like to keep in touch with the School, membership is provided. Both students and members pay fixed monthly fees. Students are expected to make some changes to their lifestyle, such as vegetarian food, smoking cessation, alcohol and drugs. They are expected to comply with high moral standards. Both in the external activity of the School, and in internal self-development, men and women equally participate. Among the students are people of all ages.
