Memorable matches
On April 29, 1992, the stadium hosted the first official match of the Ukrainian team , which lost in a friendly match of the Hungarian team with a score of 1: 3. The only goal for Ukraine with a free-kick was scored by Ivan Getsko in the 90th minute of the meeting. After that, until 2012, no repairs were carried out, the stadium gradually began to decline and became essentially an emergency facility. The successor of FC Transcarpathia is the Goverla Football Club, which began its performances in the Premier League just in the season 2012/2013, rented three football fields for 25 years and the outbuildings necessary for their maintenance. A huge amount of work was done: the lighting was connected, the western stand and the stands were completely repaired, the entrance arch, the training field was reproduced and the third training field was completely rebuilt.
In 2016, Goverla Football Club did not pass certification for participation in the Premier League of Ukraine 2016/2017 and lost its professional status. After which the team was disbanded. At the moment, the stadium belongs to the Uzhgorod municipality. In the summer of 2018, the next reconstruction of the stadium began. In particular, athletics tracks, training fields, under-tribune rooms and the territory adjacent to the stadium. The reconstruction is planned to be completed before the end of the year.
