Biography

1990s

He appeared on the national stage in 1990 with the single “ The Devil Made Me Do It ” and the album of the same name, after receiving a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Davis. Originally released on Tommy Boy Records, his first single was banned by MTV. Since then, his position on political and social issues has helped, on the one hand, and on the other, prevented him from delivering his music to the masses.

When his second album, " Sleeping With The Enemy ", was ready for release in 1992 , Paris was suspended from the label Tommy Boy and distributor Time Warner, when the latter got acquainted with the contents of the new work of the rapper. The album included the track Bush Killa, in which the assassination of then incumbent US President George W. Bush takes place. Also, publishers were alarmed by the proposed cover for the album, which depicts Paris hiding behind a tree with Tec-9 in its hands and waiting for the president. Eventually, Paris released the album directly on the newly created Scarface Records .

Paris contracted Priority Records for itself and Scarface Records in 1993 and released its third LP, Guerrilla Funk in 1994. Paris and Priority formally terminated their business relationship due to creative differences in 1995 , and in 1997 . Paris signed a one-time deal with the now defunct Whirling Records to release his fourth album, “ Unleashed, ” which was released in small numbers and with a meager promotional campaign. The album contains some very strong and racially charged poems, but at the same time less openly political.

2000s

In 2003, Paris first appeared on rapper Anybody Killa's Hatchet Warrior album, and soon released his own new album, “ Sonic Jihad ”, which, like all previous works, was very relevant, containing topics regarding September 11 (What Would You track Do? In which Paris accuses the US government of the terrorist attack), racism, the war on terror, the war in Iraq , police brutality, the black war against blacks and the deceitful US policy. Other political rappers also took part in the recording: Kam , dead prez and Public Enemy . Sonic Jihad was a leading factor in the decision to create the label and website of Guerrilla Funk Recordings .

In 2006, Paris completed the project with Public Enemy, " Rebirth Of A Nation ." The name of the project is a link to the 1915 film Birth of a Nation , which contains Ku Klux Klan propaganda. The texts that Chuck D from Public Enemy read were written by Paris, which had never happened before in Chuck D's career. The album also features MC Ren , Immortal Technique , Kam, dead prez and The Conscious Daughters .

In 2006, Paris also released Paris Presents: Hard Truth Soldiers, Vol. 1, the first Paris compilation in the Hard Truth Soldiers series, which covers topics from racism and police brutality to black people to domestic violence. The album featured Public Enemy, The Coup , dead prez, TK.ASH , Kam, The Conscious Daughters, Mystic , MC Ren, Sun Rise Above , and The STOP Movement ( Mobb Deep , Tray Deee , Soopafly , KRS-One , Defari , Daz , J-Ro , RBX , Bad Azz , WC , Dilated Peoples , Mac Minister , The Alchemist , Mack 10 , Evidence , Everlast , B-Real ) and many others.

Paris not only writes and produces songs, but also publishes information on helping the black community.
