Biography
First performed in public at the age of 8 years. Chopin admired her art (he dedicated his nocturne to her, op.9), Liszt , who also dedicated works to her, Mendelssohn . Successfully performed in the UK, France, Russia. In Russia, she met with the Austrian composer and pianist Sigismund Talberg , who had a great influence on her.
She was engaged to Hector Berlioz , but broke off the engagement during his departure to Rome and on April 5, 1831 , married the musician , the eldest son of the composer, publisher and musical instrument manufacturer Ignaz Joseph Pleyel . Berlioz planned a triple murder of Marie, her mother and Camille and then intended to commit suicide, for which he even stole pistols - however, he abandoned his plan halfway to Paris, while in Nice . Four years later, the couple broke up (Marie Playel was not distinguished by marital fidelity) and divorced on July 29, 1836.
In 1839, she met Gerard de Nerval in Vienna and became one of his muse inspirers. From 1848 to 1872 she taught at the Brussels Conservatory , raised a whole performing school. The author of several piano compositions.
