As of the beginning of 2019, there are 10 agricultural organizations operating in the region - 8 independent ones (OJSC Shchuchinagroprodukt, OJSC DEMBROVO, OJSC AgroGZHS, OJSC Orlya, OJSC Shchuchinskaya Poultry Factory, OJSC Vasilishki, KSUP Sovkhoz "Large Mozheikovo", OJSC "Pervomaisk-agro") and 2 in the form of branches (SPU "Protasovschina" PRUE "Grodnooblgaz" branch "Zheludok agrocomplex" OJSC "Agrokombinat" Skidelsky ") [12] . In addition, there are 22 farms in the area [13] .

The total cultivated area of ​​crops in the organizations of the district (excluding farms and personal farms of the population) in 2017 amounted to 57,012 ha (570 km²) [14] . In 2017, 28,750 ha (2 nd place in the region) were sown under grain and leguminous crops, 1,650 ha under sugar beet, and 20,955 ha under fodder crops (4th place in the region) [15] . The quality of the soil agricultural land is estimated at 33.6 points, arable land - at 36.4 points [13] .

The gross harvest of grain and leguminous crops in agricultural organizations amounted to 131.4 thousand tons in 2015, 106.6 thousand tons in 2016, 114.5 thousand tons in 2017. According to the gross grain harvest in 2017, the district took the 2nd place in the Grodno region after the Grodno region [16] . The average grain yield in 2017 was 39.8 c / ha (the average for the Grodno region - 39.7 c / ha, for the Republic of Belarus - 33.3 c / ha). According to this indicator, the district took the 7th place in the Grodno region [17] . The gross yield of sugar beets in agricultural organizations amounted to 59.7 thousand tons in 2016, 82.3 thousand tons in 2017. In 2017, the district took the 8th place in the Grodno region in terms of the gross harvest of sugar beet [18] . The average yield of sugar beet in 2017 amounted to 499 c / ha (the average for the Grodno region - 533 c / ha, for the Republic of Belarus - 499 c / ha); according to this indicator, the district took the 6th place in the Grodno region [19] .

As of January 1, 2018, the agricultural organizations of the region (excluding farmer and personal households of the population) contained 63.2 thousand heads of cattle, including 19.5 thousand cows, as well as 125.4 thousand pigs and 144, 9 thousand birds. By the cattle population, the district takes the 2nd place in the Grodno region, by the livestock of pigs - the 1st, by the livestock - 6th [20] [21] .

In 2017, the district enterprises produced 33.4 thousand tons of meat (in live weight) and 114.4 thousand tons of milk. In the production of meat and milk, the district takes the 2nd place in the Grodno region, second only to the Grodno region . The average milk yield per cow is 6142 kg (the average for the Grodno region is 5325 kg, for the Republic of Belarus is 4989 kg); according to this indicator, the district ranks 3rd in the region (after the Grodno and Berestovitsky districts ) [22] [23] .

Industry

There are 5 industrial enterprises in the area [24] :

  • Shchuchin Plant Avtoprovod OJSC produces wires and cables for household, industrial and transport purposes [25] ;
  • Shuchinsky Dairy Factory (part of the Grodnomyasomolprom holding [26] );
  • Shuchinsky Repair Plant OJSC (Rozhanka village) produces disc harrows, straw choppers, steam cultivators [27] ;
  • Shchuchinskoye RUP Housing and Communal Services;

Healthcare

Education

In 2017, there were 21 pre-school education institutions in the district (including the kindergarten-school complexes) with 1.3 thousand children. In the 2017/2018 school year, 19 general secondary education institutions operated in the district, in which 4,000 students studied. The educational process was carried out by 635 teachers. On average, there were 6.3 students per teacher (the average value for the Grodno region was 7.9, for the Republic of Belarus - 8.7) [29] .
