Initially, the new MechWarrior was supposed to have a full-fledged single-player campaign. In 2011, the concept of the game was changed, and it turned into a massively multiplayer online game distributed according to the free-to-play model.

Similar games to Mech Simulations
Classic MechWarrior series games are similar to the Hawken game, the gameplay of which, like theirs, is completely built on controlling a fur (a large walking fighting mechanical robot), but the action takes place in its own universe. The closest development and release time for the MechWarrior Online game is the 2012–2013 Hawken game [4] .
Story
On November 16, 2011, on their blog, the developers announced that the game’s plot would begin in 3049, just before the Clans invaded the Inner Sphere.
Fur Management Features
- F3 - allows you to go from third person to first - in the cabin of a manned fur.
- B - view the radar on the big map. Turning on the mini-radar (as in a fur cabin) when playing from a third party is impossible, therefore, first you need to switch to piloting the fur from the cabin using F3.
Development
The announcement of the new part of the series MechWarrior has caused genuine interest in the gaming community. The last edition in the series - MechWarrior 4 Compilation - was released in 2004, it was just a compilation of all previous versions of MechWarrior 4: Vengeance and since then the series seemed to cease to exist - the development of "MechWarrior 5" was discontinued a year after its start [5 ] .
On July 8, 2009, Piranha Games and Smith & Tinker celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Battletech universe with the announcement of a new part of the game and the demonstration of a trailer from the video gameplay. As it was reported, the developers are preparing the continuation of a series of games since October 2008 [6] .
The development of the game is led by two project leaders: Jordan Weisman of Smith & Tinker (formerly creator of the Battletech universe and founder of FASA Corporation ), and Russ Bullock, president of Piranha Games .
Until 2011, the game bore the working name MechWarrior. On various news sites, in order to avoid confusion, she was called "MechWarrior (reboot)" or "MechWarrior (2010)" [7] . It was reported that she would lose the serial number. In an interview with IGN.com, Jordan Weisman confirmed that the MechWarrior franchise will be restarted.
Piranha Games did not manage to find a publisher for the game, as a result of which the future of the project was in jeopardy. In 2011, it was decided to make the new MechWarrior a massively multiplayer online game distributed according to the free-to-play model [8] .
In October 2011, the game launched an advertising campaign on Twitter [9] . On October 23, 2011 the official website of the game was opened.
On May 22, 2012, the launch of closed beta testing was announced [10] .
May 22 became known about the Founder's Package, released by the American publisher of the game Infinite Game Publishing. Having bought one of the publications (at a price of $ 30, 60 or later an announced offer for $ 120), you can get both game bonuses and early access to the beta version of the game from July 17 [11] . Access to beta within the Founder's Package was later rescheduled for August 7th [12] .
On October 11, 2012, it was announced that from October 16, 2012 the game goes into the stage of open beta testing [13] , but then the start of open beta testing was postponed to October 29 [14] .
The official release of the game MechWarrior Online took place on September 17, 2013 [15] .
Legal difficulties
On September 3, 2009, shortly after publishing the video and screenshots of the game on IGN.com , Harmony Gold USA (the owner of the Robotech franchise ) announced a violation of its rights, after which the video was removed from IGN.com [16] . For the first time, Harmony Gold USA filed a FASA claim in 1996, alleging the illegal use of the MechWarrior Mech design from the Macross series of Harmony Gold USA [17] . The aforementioned video from the new MechWarrior game shows Warhammer fur, which looks similar to Destroid Tomahawk from Macross , or Excalibur Destroid from Robotech Series [18] .
As a result, the Mechs Warhammer and Marauder (originally a copy of the Zentradi Officer's battle pod from the same series) were completely redesigned by the developers and only then released in the game.
