History
The name Orangery Street appeared at the beginning of the 19th century. It is connected with the Great Greenhouse of Catherine Park (Building 2). Originally passed from Sadovaya Street to October Boulevard [1] . By the beginning of the XX century, it became longer by 500 m - it was extended to a slaughterhouse located near the current intersection with Leningradskaya Street [2] .
On April 23, 1923, the Orangery was renamed into Kominterna Street in honor of the III Communist International .
In the 1950s, the street was extended to Akhmatovskaya Street , and in the 1960s, to Alexei Tolstoy Boulevard.
On July 7, 1993, the street of Komintent was returned to its historical name - Orangery Street [1] .
Currently, the reconstruction of the Large Greenhouse for the needs of the Agrarian University is underway [3] .
