Located in the western part of the region, 18 km north-east of Smolensk , 7 km north of the M1 Belarus road. 19 km south of the village is the Smolensk-Sorting railway station on the Moscow - Minsk line .
History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 [1] .
