It is located in the northwestern part of the region 22 km southwest of Velizh , 21 km south of the P133 Smolensk - Nevel highway, on the banks of the Western Dvina River . Rudnya railway station on the Smolensk - Vitebsk line is located 81 km south of the village.


History

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 . [one]
