Madrid Municipal Symphony Brass Band performs in the rotunda of Madrid's Buen Retiro Park (2009)

The Municipal Symphony Brass Band of Madrid ( Spanish: Banda Sinfónica Municipal de Madrid ) is a Spanish wind- dominated symphony orchestra based in Madrid . The decision to create an orchestra was made in 1908 at the initiative of the Alcald of Madrid Count Penalver, the first concert was held on June 2, 1909 .

The founder of the orchestra, Ricardo Villa, included in his repertoire, along with the music of Spanish composers for wind compositions, his own compositions of world classics of modern and recent times - including the works of Mussorgsky , Wagner , Ravel , Ottorino Respigi - and this has become a tradition for the collective.
