Description
The street begins in the central part of the city from the overpass connecting Lenin Street and Pobediteley Avenue (here is the Nemiga metro station ) and goes to the south-west. Opposite the Trading House On Nemiga from the south Komsomolskaya Street adjoins it (there is no automobile communication with Nemiga). At the next intersection, adjacent to it are Romanov Sloboda streets (from the north-west) and the City shaft (from the south-east). Further, from the north-west to Nemiga , Korol street and Kollektornaya street adjoin, from the south - Myasnikov street and from the north-west Karl Liebknecht street . It ends with Bogushevich Square , where it intersects with Klara Zetkin Street and where the Belarusian State Academic Musical Theater is located . To the northeast of Nemig, it continues on Maksim Bogdanovich Street , to the southwest - on Dzerzhinsky Avenue . The numbering of the houses goes from the Nemiga metro station , the left side is odd.
Nemiga is one of the oldest streets in Minsk, which appeared in the XII century near the Minsk Castle. It is called in honor of the Nemiga River , which is now embedded in the sewer, along which the street once walked.
History
The first half of the XIX century - along the street Nemiga flowed stream (the rest of the dried river) [2] .
From the beginning of the 17th century, it was built up with baroque buildings and buildings in the spirit of classicism, in which, besides living quarters, there were benches.
The traditional name of the street is Nemigskaya. It finally became Nemigoy only in the mid-60s. Part of the street from St. Petro-Pavlovsky (in 1793-1933 of the Catherine's Cathedral) to Zybitskaya Street before the revolution was called Yekaterinburg, in the interwar period Kalinin. During World War II, the occupiers renamed Nemigskaya to Pionierstrasse (Sapernaya Street) [3] .
In 1968 began the gradual demolition of residential buildings Nemiga. The left side of the street was originally demolished; demolition of the right continued until 1975. Instead, an apartment building was erected on the right side. To date, only a small island of the Old Nemiga has survived in the area of Rakovskaya and Vitebsk and St. Peter and Paul Cathedral, which previously stood at the fork of Nemigskaya and Rakovskaya streets.
In 1990, the Nemiga metro station was opened, in connection with which the March 8 square occupied by the bus station actually ceased to exist.
Formed in 1975, the odd side of the street retained until the mid-2000s, when it began the construction of shopping complexes, whose facades are designed by architects to imitate the look of the facades of historic buildings lost in the early 1970s.
In April 2011, construction began on the Nemiga storm sewer (the total length of the collector, which is designed to protect the Nemiga and Tolstoy streets from flooding, is 3.3 km [4] .
In 2012, a pedestrian bridge was spanned across the street.
