Geography
Köthen is located between Magdeburg and Halle , west of Dessau and east of Bernburg . The river Tsite flows through Kothen .
History
Köthen was first mentioned in 1115. In 1280 (possibly earlier) a city wall was erected around the city.

In 1717 - 1723 , JS Bach lived in the city, here he wrote his Brandenburg concerts and the first volume of the Well-Tempered Clavier .
In 1821 - 1835, Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann , the founder of homeopathy, lived and worked in Kothen.
