Independence Monument of Ukraine ( Ukrainian Monument of Independence ) is a monument dedicated to the independence of Ukraine . The monument is located in the center of Kiev on Independence Square .

Stylistically is a mixture of Ukrainian Baroque and Empire style . The monument was erected in the composition center of Independence Square in Kiev in honor of the 10th anniversary of Ukraine's independence in 2001. It is a 52-meter column crowned with the figure of the Oranta girl in a Ukrainian national costume with a viburnum branch in her hands. The total height is 62 meters [1] .
The authors of the project are sculptor A. V. Kushch , architects S. V. Babushkin , A. V. Komarovsky , R. I. Kukharenko, O. K. Stukalov . The sculptor Anatoly Kushch used his daughter, Kristina Katrakis, as a model for creating Beregini [2] .
