From May 20, 1929 to January 15, 1930 the world exhibition ( Spanish Exposición Internacional de Barcelona , Cat. Exposició Internacional de Barcelona ) was held in Barcelona .
The exhibition area was divided into three parts. In the lower one were the palace of transport, the buildings of the electric and textile industries, the Spanish charity pavilion and the fire station. The national pavilions, including the German pavilion , the palace of modern art, the royal pavilion and the Palau Nacional national palace, were located a little higher on the hillside. On a higher plane was a sports stadium .
Along with the built area of 118 hectares, the exhibition included a 82-hectare park with calm paths, terraces, cascades and gardens.
