Edition History
The book was edited and edited by G.V. Vernadsky , a specialist in Freemasonry at the beginning of the 20th century. It was published in 1916 at the Petrograd publishing house "Lights" [2] [1] .

Pypin’s book contains old articles, the author’s many years of work on the history of Russian Freemasonry : “General remarks on Russian Freemasonry”, “First Lodges in Russia”, “Masonic Ritual”, “ Rosicrucianism ”, “Illuminatism and Moscow Martinists in the presentation of Catherine II”, index of Russian lodges from the introduction of Freemasonry to its prohibition (1717-1829).
Pypin based his essays on the works of colleagues - M. N. Longinov , P. P. Pekarsky , S. V. Yeshevsky . Then Pypin's text was edited by G.V. Vernadsky, notes were added. In his book, Pypin talks about the history of mysticism, orders, various directions of occult teachings and magic [2] [1] .
