Khuzangay, Atner Petrovich

Atner Petrovich Khuzangay (born October 8, 1948 ) is a Chuvash Russian philologist, literary critic, publicist, and leader of the Chuvash national movement [1] .

Biography

Born in the family of the People's poet of Chuvashia Peter Khuzangai and actress, People's Artist of the USSR Vera Kuzmina .

He graduated from the East Department of Leningrad State University. A. A. Zhdanova majoring in Arabic philology and graduate school of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the USSR Academy of Sciences. He completed an internship as a military translator in the Arab Republic of Egypt (1970–1971). Candidate of Philological Sciences (1977). Head of the Department of Linguistics GNU " Chuvash State Institute of Humanities. " Member of the Writers' Union (1987) [2] .

In the late 1980s - early 1990s, he was an active figure in the national-cultural movement. Member of the Supreme Council of the Chuvash Republic and Chairman of the Standing Commission on Culture. Candidate for President of the Chuvash Republic in 1993. In 1992-1997, he was president of the Chuvash National Congress created on his initiative, from 1997-2002. - First Vice-President of the General Assembly of the Organization of Unrepresented Peoples and Nations.
