Recursive Acronym

One of the earliest examples is the implementation of the TECO editor called TINT, which appeared in 1977 or 1978 ( TINT Is Not TECO - “TINT is not TECO”). The term " recursive acronym" first appeared in print in 1979 in the book by Douglas Hofstadter, " Godel, Escher, Bach " ^[1] , which mentions (and is hereafter referred to as the recursive acronym) GOD, which means GOD Over Djinn (in the Russian translation, respectively, “GOD” and “GOD, Overcoming Genius”).

There is also an acronym containing indirect recursion: Hurd . Hurd is English. “Hird of Unix-Replacing Daemons” - “Hird daemons replacing Unix .” And Hird, in turn, stands for: English. "Hurd of Interfaces Representing Depth" - "Hurd of Interfaces Representing Depth ."

The “pure” recursive acronym is constructed using a simple algorithm :

1. An acronym for a product is invented, for example: SE - “free encyclopedia”.
2. Any letter is added at the beginning, for example, "B", we get "VSE".
3. The entire acronym appears as one whole, that is, “VSE - free encyclopedia”.
