Whiteboarding (literally - drawing on a white board) - placement of shared files on the screen "shared notebook" or "white board". Software for video conferencing and data conferencing often includes tools that allow the user to make notes on the electronic board in much the same way as he would on a regular wallboard.
The main property of this type of application is to allow more than one person to simultaneously work on the image, with the synchronization of the two versions with each other in almost real time.
The electronic whiteboard was first included in early 1996 in CoolTalk in Netscape Navigator 3.0. Supported by Microsoft NetMeeting .
