Sikiyaz-Tamak is a cave complex located in the Satka district of the Chelyabinsk region on the border with Bashkiria , in the Ai river valley, on the right bank, near the village of Sikiyaz-Tamak. Sikiyaz-Tamak cave complex is located 36 kilometers from the town of Satka ; The nearest settlement is the village of Alekseevka (Chelyabinsk region). It was discovered in August 1995 by a group of Chelyabinsk cavers - archaeologists (S. M. Baranov, V. I. Yurin).
In Sikiyaz-Tamak, archaeological materials of all historical eras were discovered: Paleolithic , Mesolithic , Neolithic , Eneolithic , Bronze and Iron Age, well-preserved wood products were first encountered, burial places of a caveman were found here. Bronze and silver items were found in the caves.
The caves of the Sikiyaz-Tamak complex probably served not only as the dwelling of ancient people, but also as the place of worship , the burial place of dead relatives. It is possible that there was a craft center for pottery and metalworking . It is likely that there was also a base hunting camp.
In addition to historical significance, the territory is a kind of natural reserve, where rare species of animals and birds are high in numbers and lead a lifestyle that matches their environmental needs. Studies of caves have shown that Sikiyaz-Tamak is a rare phenomenon that has no analogues in world practice. Here, nature created a natural museum, in which the landscape, flora and fauna, traces of the presence of ancient people are closely intertwined.
