Chavchavadze, Garsevan Revazovich

Garsevan (David) Revazovich Chavchavadze ( June 20, 1757 - April 7, 1811 ) - Prince, hereditary Moravian of Kazakhs and Borchalo, adjutant general of Tsar Irakli II and his representative at the talks on establishing a protectorate of Russia over Georgia. The first plenipotentiary minister of Georgia in St. Petersburg (1783-1801) under Catherine II , Paul I and Alexander I.

Biography

He was the son of Prince Revaz Garsevanovich Chavchavadze , who held the post of Eshikagasbashi - the head of the executive apparatus, who followed order at the royal court, and participated with King Irakli II in the Indian campaign of Nadirshah in 1738.

After that, for 18 years he was the Permanent Representative in the rank of the Plenipotentiary Minister of Georgia in St. Petersburg (1783-1801) under Catherine II , Paul I and Alexander I. He fought to maintain the independence of the country. After the abolition of Georgian statehood in 1801, he received the rank of current state councilor . June 4, 1803 was elected the first Tiflis provincial leader of the nobility. In 1805 he was recalled to Russia (due to suspicions of participation in the anti-Russian conspiracy of 1804, in which his son was involved) and until the end of his life did not obtain permission to return to his homeland. He was buried in the Alexander Nevsky Lavra .
