The tournament in group C as part of the 38th World Championship and at the same time the 49th European Ice Hockey Championship [1] was held in the Netherlands . It was also the qualification tournament of the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo . In the main tournament of the Olympics were the teams of Romania and France, which subsequently refused to participate [2] .
