Latgale Zoo

Latgale Zoo ( Latvian. Latgales zoodārzs ) is a zoo located in the city of Daugavpils ( Latvia ), in the Esplanade area. It is a municipal enterprise.

History

The foundation was laid in 1987 , in the form of a zoological circle. Originally located in the basement of the building 1/3 on the street. Gogol (now Saules) of the Daugavpils Pedagogical Institute . Founder - Michael Pupinsh, later with the growth of the collection transferred to the former station of young naturalists (young naturalists) on the street. August 5th, 27th (now Vienibas). The zoo occupies a two-storey house: on the 1st floor is an exposition, on the 2nd floor there are rooms, a conference room, a laboratory. For several years, the building has been redeveloped for exposure, work is underway on projects for the conservation of a marsh turtle, etc. The director of the zoo is Mikhail Pupinsh.

Present

Since 2001, the conversion of premises under the jungle . In the near future there will be reservoirs for turtles.
