Vasilkovo ( Belorussian. Vasilkova , formerly called Polivanova Sloboda ) is a village in the Zakhodovsky village council of the Rechitsa district of the Gomel region of Belarus .

Geography

34 km northwest of Rechitsa and 10 km from the Babichi railway station, 85 km from Gomel .

History

Archaeologists have discovered burial mounds 1 km east of the village in the amount of 19 embankments. Such a burial testifies to the settlement of these places since ancient times. According to written sources, it has been known since the 16th century as part of the Rechitsa district of the Minsk Voivodeship of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania . The first mention dates back to 1523 . After the 2nd division of the Commonwealth ( 1793 ) as part of the Russian Empire . In 1850 belonged to the estate of Gorval. Residents of the village did a lot of work for the landowner - they harvested wood, collected tar, drove tar , and produced charcoal. In 1908, the village was part of the Gorvala volost of the Rechitsa district of the Minsk province .

From December 8, 1926 to December 30, 1927, the center of the Vasilkovsky Village Council of Gorvalsky and from August 4, 1927 of the Rechitsa District of the Rechitsa District . There was a school , a department of consumer cooperation.

In 1930, a collective farm was organized, a forge and a steam mill worked .

During World War II in June 1943, German punishers burned the village and killed 29 residents. On the fronts of the war, 66 people died.

The village is the center of the collective farm "12 years of October". A school, club, library , post office work .

The village has 86 residential buildings ( 2004 ). The layout consists of a curved street, with an orientation close to latitudinal. Long curved and short straight streets adjoin the center of the street from the north. Two-sided building - with wooden houses of the manor type.
