Kyzylkum (gas field)

Kyzylkum, Gizilgum - a gas field in Turkmenistan . Located in the Balkan region , in the western part of the country. Opened in 1952 . Included in the Turkmen oil project Nebitdag .

Refers to the West Turkmen oil and gas region .

Oil content is associated with deposits of the Pliocene age. Deposits - at a depth of 0.7-1.2 km.

Initial gas reserves amount to 60 billion m3.

The operator of the field is the Italian oil company Eni . Until November 2007, the British oil company Burren Energy was the operator of the field. Gas production by 2008 amounted to 0.5 billion m3.
