The Neman lowland [1] ( Belorussian. Neman nizina ) is a lowland in the west of Belarus and in Lithuania in the valley of the Neman River .

The lowland in from west to east stretches for 160 km, the width in from north to south is 20-55 km. Height above sea level - 80-160 m. The lowland area is about 8.3 thousand km². The lowland is surrounded by hills - Minsk , Novogrudok , Volkovysk , Grodno and Oshmyany , as well as the Kopyl ridge . Many rivers flow on the territory, the largest - Berezina , Servach , Shchara , Svisloch , Ros . There are small lakes from the ice age . About 35% of the lowland is occupied by forests ( pine , spruce , mixed , less often - oak forests ). [2]
The place where the Neman crosses the border with Lithuania is the lowest point in Belarus (80 m). [3]
Note
Neman lowland in the middle reaches of the river. The Neman should not be confused with the Lower Neman lowland , occupying the lower reaches of the Neman and its delta .
