Myojin ( Jap. 明 神 礁 My: jing-sho:) is a crater that enters the Beyonesu volcano, located approximately 450 kilometers south of Tokyo at a depth of 50 meters near the Izu islands . Volcanic activity has been recorded since 1869 . Since then, the volcano erupted several times, the strongest eruption caused the appearance and subsequent disappearance of a small island.

The name of the volcano comes from the name of the fishing boat, No. 11 “Myojin Maru” from the city of Yaizu , Shizuoka Prefecture , the team of which first witnessed the beginning of the most powerful eruption of 1952 .
