When the heart is heavy
And it's cold in my chest
To the steps of the Hermitage
Come at dusk,
Where without drink and bread
Forgotten through the ages
Atlanta hold the sky
On stone hands.
...
And live still hope
Until
Atlanta hold the sky
On stone hands.
“Atlantes” is a song by Alexander Gorodnitsky , written in 1963 [1] . The Atlantes are considered the unofficial anthem of St. Petersburg . [2] For many years Gorodnitsky’s original concerts in Leningrad - St. Petersburg usually end with this song, performed with the audience. [3]
In 2018, the song “Atlanta” became the official anthem of the Hermitage : on October 30, the signing ceremony of the agreement between the State Hermitage and Alexander Gorodnitsky on the use of the song “Atlanta” as a museum anthem took place. [four]
The name Atlantes received two collections of Gorodnitsky - his first collection in 1967 [5] and a collection of songs in 2005 - and the first record of his songs published in the USSR (“Melody”, 1987), and the book of memoirs in the series “My XX Century” named after one of the lines - "And to live with hope ..."
