Biography

Childhood. Family

Born in Odessa on Bolshaya Arnautskaya Street . Father - Furs Vladimir Danilovich (buried in the Second Christian Cemetery of Odessa , plot 101). Mother is unknown. Sister - Lidia Vladimirovna (she died in the period from 1970 to 1975). He grew up without parents from his grandparents. The elder brother of Konstantin was also fond of football, but did not play, as he went through the stage [2] . The career of the younger Furs, who also fell into various troubles in his youth, could not go wrong. He avoided such a fate thanks to Jozef Klatsman, who trained the youth team “Spartak” at the eponymous stadium.

In 1956, Pyotr Stupakov invited Furs to the “Pischevik”, but the coach had to seriously sweat: Konstantin was in regular trouble, and he was threatened with a term. Stupakov pulled him out in the hope that football would distract a talented football player from a wandering life [2] ...

Kostya Jap

Furs was simply called - Cat. According to one version, he received this nickname after he “robbed” an opponent’s goalkeeper in one of the matches when he had a ball, but his teammates claim that this is just a derivative of his name, as well as Kotya and Kotik. He had in his "Black Sea" and another nickname - Jap. Only it was given to him not for criminal abilities, but exclusively for external data.

From an interview with German Alekseevich Shuisky :

... Outwardly with the Cat, we were a bit similar, and for a narrow cut of eyes and the 37th size of Furs's shoes they called him "Japanese", and me "Chinese" ...

- The newspaper "Odessa-Sport", September 13, 2000

Takeoff. Records

In his first full season for Pishevik, Furs not only became the team's top scorer, scoring 18 goals in the national championship, but also updated a number of club records. One of them, as the statistician and historian of Odessa football Yuri Usatyuk noted, deserves special attention: on August 14, 1957 in the match with Vanguard from Sormovo , which ended with a major victory for Odessa with a score of 7: 0 [3] , the forward became the first in the history of Odessa club author of "poker", and this achievement was subsequently only able to be repeated by Anatoly Dvoenkov (May 2, 1960 in the match of the USSR Championship [4] ), Anatoly Koldakov (July 7, 1962 in the match of the USSR Championship [5] ), Anatoly Shepel ( 14 September 1973, in the Soviet league match [6] ), and Yuriy Nikiforov (September 2, 1992 1/32 final match Cup Cups [7] ).

The seasons of 1958, 1959 and 1961 were also successful for Furs: he became the club's top scorer, and in total in class “B” he scored 82 goals, making 1 poker, 5 hat-tricks , 20 takes and in 44 matches (including another one goal in the USSR Cup) differed once, which is also a club record.

From the publication "Chernomorets" - champion of Ukraine ":

The left welterweight K. Furs is low, very mobile. It’s hard for the defenders to “catch” him. In addition to feints and good speed, Furs also had a skillfully delivered strike. He scores goals in almost every match.

- A. Tchaikovsky // Weekly Football, No. 45 (76), November 5, 1961

Furs entered the history of the famous Odessa derby “Chernomorets” and SKA as the author of the first goal. In the first official meeting of sailors and army men, which took place on June 3, 1959 as part of the USSR championship among teams of class “B” zone IV, the only goal scored by the striker in the 25th minute brought a minimal victory to “Chernomorets” [8] .

From the publication “Two points of “ Chernomorets ” :

... For all 90 minutes of the match, viewers were only lucky enough to experience the most interesting and beautiful thing in football - a goal. This happened in the 25th minute of the first half, when the striker of Chornomorets Konstantin Furs with an excellent midfielder Vladimir Kulagin scored the ball with his head into the goal of the home team.

- The newspaper “The Banner of Communism” (Odessa), June 5, 1959

Sunset

The main playing qualities of Furs are a quick jerk of twenty meters, a choice of position and a whip. Only now to show them in the Premier League he was not destined. By the season of 1964 - the year of a breakthrough in the history of Odessa football - Konstantin began to decline due to addiction to alcohol. The corresponding “friends” periodically dragged him into various adventures, and Vsevolod Bobrov , who headed the “sailors” in 1963, unlike Anatoly Zubritsky , who allowed Furs to even drink before the matches, did not turn a blind eye to violations of the regime. Thus, at the age of 28, Furs was forced to leave Chernomorets, after which he spent only nine goalless official games at Avtomobilist , who played in his native class “B”, and ended his football career.

Goal That Was Not

Although Konstantin’s playing career didn’t turn out outstanding, Odessa fans loved him so much that they were ready to forgive everything. And legends were made during his lifetime. In an interview with Sport-Express , one of them was replicated by Roman Kartsev , who “attributed” a goal to Lev Yashin to Konstantin. Although it is known for certain that the only footballer of Chornomorets , who scored a great goalkeeper, is Sergey Zvenigorodsky (on April 23, 1969, in the match of the USSR championship Chernomorets - Dynamo M - 1: 0 [9] ), and Furs against Yashin he never played, and he met with Dynamo Moscow on the football field only once: on June 17, 1962, in a match for the USSR Cup [10] , in which Lev Ivanovich did not take part, and the game ended in a 1-0 victory for Muscovites.

From an interview with Roman Andreyevich Kartsev :

- Among the stars of that “Black Sea” was a felon named Kotya Furs. Remember him?

- This is not a criminal, but the legend of Odessa football! My favorite He drank, of course, was a dunce, but Odessa forgave him everything. A small sprout - sixty meter, not more. Jerk like Messi. Until now, before his eyes, his goal was the Moscow Dynamo. He went around the famous defender giant Ryabov and scored Yashina! [eleven]

- “Sport-Express”, 08.08.2014

Death. Oblivion. Memory

In addition to football, Furs was not adapted to anything in life. Having drunk, he quickly went downhill. Former teammates tried to help him, but in vain. Having drunk an independent apartment in Nakhimov Lane, received from the ChMP, he first moved to a communal apartment on Shevchenko Avenue, and then rolled to the point of sleeping under Spartak Stadium. Once it was closed for the night in a booth under one of the stands, and it was almost bitten by rats [12] .

Furs also died legends, because due to a vagabond lifestyle, he fell out of sight of his football comrades for a long time. And when he died, he was quietly and imperceptibly buried in the Northern Cemetery of Odessa (plot 55). Furs's grave was accidentally found many years later by hanging an appropriate plate on it [13] .

Furs is buried on the site among the "second-rate" people - suicides, drug addicts and the like. Most of the territory of the site is covered with signs "unknown", overgrown with barbed grass ... However, this "company" corresponds to its after-football years ...

In 2011, the football club "Chernomorets" initiated a fundraiser for the monument to the striker. [14] [15] [16]

Recognition of Merit

Many years after his death, Furs's contribution to the history of Odessa football was appreciated by historians. He was included in the symbolic “Club of scorers 50 Leonid Orekhov ”, established by the newspaper “ Evening Odessa ”, and in 2001 he was among the best football players of Odessa of the XX century , taking the 20th place according to the results of the poll organized by the weekly “Odessa-Sport” .

On September 1, 2012, on the alley of football glory of FC Chernomorets (Odessa) , the first twelve memorable stars were immortalized, one of which is dedicated to Konstantin Furs [17] .

In 2008, VKontakte launched the Memory of Furs Internet community [18] .
