It is located in the southwestern part of the region 30 km west of Shumyachy , 22 km northwest of the A101 Moscow-Warsaw highway (Old Polish or Warsaw), on the banks of the Oster River. 24 km south-east of the village is the Osva railway station on the Roslavl - Krichev line .

History

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in August 1941 , liberated in September 1943 . [one]
