Biography
Born on June 7, 1962 in Odessa . In the early 1980s, Igor "Ganya" Gankevich organized the group "Illusion", which since 1984 changed its name to "Bastion". The group starred in the film “Discjockey” and performed at the “SyRok-88” festival [2] in Moscow, where the most popular numbers were sounded: “In memory of the victims of perestroika” and “Remember how the crabs were in Odessa ...”. Also, one of the notable concerts of the Bastion was a performance at the famous Podolsk rock festival , where the song “Walk in Odessa” was first performed.
The authorship of Igor Gankevich belongs to the song “Walking in Odessa” , [2] often attributed to Sergei Chigrakov (“Cizhu”) performing it. His other song, “The Monologue of the Old Rocker,” became the anthem of the Odessa rock club, one of the founders of which was Igor Gankevich.
In early 1990, having a hard time experiencing the crisis at Bastion, Igor Gankevich took part in the Gambrinus project, which included, in addition to him, members of the Cat House (Odessa-SPB) and Nate! "(St. Petersburg). The Gambrinus group did not live long, just playing at the two-day festival in the Palace of Culture named after Gaza (January 15-16, 1990) in the same company as Hummingbird , Sudden Owl , Wine and Nate! ".
June 27, 1990 Igor Gankevich was gone. The cause of death was the deterioration in health as a result of tearing during the transfer of cargo (the main place of work of Igor was Odessa Sea Port).
4 years after Igor’s death, the album “Pique Vests” was released, in which concert (and several studio) recordings of the songs of “Bastion” were recorded. The financing and distribution of the album was done by Alexey Gankevich’s son. [ clarify ]
