It is located in the western part of the region 14 km south of Smolensk , 9 km west of the A141 Oryol - Vitebsk highway, on the banks of the Moshni River. 15 km north-east of the village is the Tychinino railway station on the Smolensk - Roslavl line .

History

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 [1] .
