Located in the western part of the region, 11 km north-east of Smolensk , 3 km north of the M1 Belarus road, on the banks of the Kolodnya River. The railway station Smolensk-Sorting on the Moscow - Minsk line is located 13 km south of the village.
History
During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 [1] .
