It is located in the western part of the region 25 km west of Smolensk , 2 km north of the Belarus highway M1 , on the banks of the Udra River. 2 km south of the village is the railway station O.p. 416th km on the Smolensk - Vitebsk line .

History

During the Great Patriotic War, the village was occupied by Nazi troops in July 1941 , liberated in September 1943 [1] .
